"Suspense: August Heat" starring Ronald Colman

(4.7 stars; 21 reviews)

This is a single episode of Suspense. I uploaded the file to replace the existing file on page 2 of the main Suspense OTR entry. Unfortunately, that file ends a trifle abruptly; it is also of inferior audio quality to the newer file available on this page. EDIT: Since uploading this, the Old Time Radio Researchers Group has released an updated set of "Suspense." It is much improved over the previous collection available on Archive.org. The new OTRR set is available here: http://www.archive.org/details/OTRR_Certified_Suspense

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

SUSPENSE-FUL IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD!

(5 stars)

Of all the radio versions of this story, this one is the finest! Ronald Colman and Dennis Hoey are brilliant together (nobody in subsequent adaptations in my opinion has matched their portrayals), the script is as close to perfection as one could wish and the music is perfectly constructed as the background. This episode and story are truly one of the finest that this series ever offered.
