I have only listened to Karen Savage on Librivox, because she has the most pleasant and wonderful voice. In all of the audio books I've listened to of hers, I have never been disappointed. Anne of green gables is a beautiful story for, arguably, any age. I enjoyed it readily even in my mid-twenties. I'm so grateful to Karen Savage for this recording and I'm even more grateful that I can now submit this review and listen to the next chapter of Anne's story with her voice narrating it. :)

A lovely classic, fluently performed

Anne of Green Gables is such a lovely, lovable book, a real go-to for me for three decades now. It's marvellous how it can open different aspects of life and personal growth for a thirty-something woman as well as a 9-year-old girl. Karen Savage reads this novel in a pleasant, smooth, not overly dramatized way. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and aside from her reading speed (a bit fast) she is nothing short of a professional performer. Who knows, she might be a professional already.

Simply amazing

I had no idea I would love this book so much. Such a fun, inviting story. Anne wins you over even faster than she wins over anyone in Avonlea. A great story for anyone at any age. Karen Savage is one of my other most favorite readers and she didn't disappoint. She gave such life to the story and all the characters. I think I would recommend everyone listening to her read it than actually reading the book themselves. This is a must listen. Thank you so much Karen

beautiful classic, wonderfully read

I really enjoyed this story as we watch (listen) to the endearing Anne grow from child to young woman. it was so entertaining and read so beautifully by the narrator. I really enjoyed this book. I can't believe I had never read it. it's inspired me to go and read all the other classics I've missed over the years.

I have always loved this story for its morals and the wonderful insights it imparts of the tremendously different ways children's eyes see the world and are affected by the peers and especially adults in their world. As opposed to the manner in which those adults think of them and lack the caring and/of ability to remember what it was like to be a child. Especially we enthusiastic and emotionally charged children which I was one and can easily recognize in others. Ms. Savage a lovely, soulful reader who intelligently brings the book to life.

a joy for young and old

What a gorgeous story with such rich and satisfying language. I’ve been playing audio books to enrich my children’s literary diet and imagination but it is me who has enjoyed it much more than expected. What an admirable character for our children to aspire to ....dear Anne of Green Gables. As for Karen Savage’s narration it is second to none...I second all the complements before me she has made many children’s classics a joy to listen to ...thank you Karen.

lovely read

loved this book, the reader did very well with her expressions. I listened to this book after having watched the newer series of Ann with an E. I think the book and the series are great in their own rights. Though there are several differences I belive the characters and actors hold very true to this books representation of them. So if you liked this book Ann with an E on Netflix is a freash look at it I think you'd enjoy also.

Outstanding Text & Narration

(5 stars)

This wonderfully sweet novel is accompanied by the expert narration of Karen Savage. I highly recommend this version and the author. Anne of Green Gables is a literary treasure which I don’t believe could be duplicated by this generation for genuine sentiment and humanity. It’s touching, yet not sappy. This is a charming narrative with a positive perspective. I hope you enjoy Karen Savage’s rendition
