Mixed bag

(3 stars)

I was quite excited to see that a full cast reading of The Scarlet Pimpernel was available on Goodreads. Unfortunately, while most of the readers were fine, and some quite exceptional, some of the narrators in particular were a chore to listen to. Additionally, there were significant differences in audio quality among the readers. The woman who read most of Marguerite's lines, the man who read most of the French agent, and the second Sir Percy were truly excellent, and their performances made it worthwhile to finish this version instead of switching to one of the single reader alternatives.

bad audio quality

(2 stars)

i got through about 5 chapters in the dramatic reading but the audio fluctuated from loud to low so much & had so many issues that I just could not stand to listen to it. I switched to the other free audio recording of this story that is read by one individual. and so glad I did! the story is an excellent adventure story which would be a real page turner as you are eager to find out what will happen next.

Worth a listen

Well read narration, the cast were great,. Atmospheric to a tee. I could almost see Leslie Howard when Sir Percy was front and centre. Excellent!

(4 stars)

I wish they had kept the characters and narrators more consistent, though overall it was well done and I enjoyed it! Thank you!

(5 stars)

A great story well written, a classic. Some of the voice animations too soft to hear.

Pretty good, wish the volume was the same each chapter though...
