Phil Rizzuto, famous Yankee shortstop, benefited from his popularity in New York, and became a broadcaster as his on-field career was coming to an end. These recordings are of a syndicated program from 1954, two years before he would be released by the Yankees. "The Scooter," as he was called, had a way of speaking that resonated with working people who would consider his Yankee play-by-play peppered with stories and insights that only a player could have as one of the main reasons to tune in. These two episodes feature two broadcasting greats as his guest, Bill Stern and Yankee broadcaster Mel Allen. These were recorded from transcription discs to tape in the 1970s and recently converted to digital files. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Rizzuto
