Nick Carter is a fictional detective who first appeared in 1886 in dime store novels. Over the years, different authors, all taking the nom de plume Nicholas Carter, have penned stories featuring "America's greatest detective". He has his work cut out when a body is discovered in a corridor of the second floor of the Wilton Hotel. He is quickly identified as Gaston Todd. Is his death a result of the ongoing feud with another man over the hand of society belle, Edna Thurlow? Surely it can't be as cut and dried as that? - Summary by Lynne Thompson (5 hr 28 min)

(5 stars)

I have enjoyed the stories, but the only let down is too many readers, lack of proper character translation and a few that had a difficulty in reading certain words.

mediocre story

(3 stars)

This was an okay “super-detective” story. Having multiple readers for a book is disconcerting and detracts from enjoying the story, especially when one of the characters suddenly develops a southern drawl in a chapter.

NICK DID NOT DO THIS ONE ALONE

(5 stars)

A good detective story read well despite having too many readers. This is one of the few that show Nick Carter to be human.

A decent detective story.

A good example of the detective genre from days gone by. Like most audio books, I think it would have been better with fewer readers? JMHO,

Great read

The Golden Age of the American Detective novel. Only 400 more to go.

Too many poor readers!

(0.5 stars)

Too many poor and inappropriate readers spoil this book.
