Carter Brown Mysteries

(4 stars; 7 reviews)

CARTER BROWN MYSTERIES Carter Brown was the literary pseudonym of Alan Geoffrey Yates (1 August 1923 – 5 May 1985), an English-born Australian writer of detective fiction. He wrote more than 270 books, which sold millions of copies worldwide. Many were adapted for radio, with over one hundred episodes were produced during the 1950s.  The Carter Brown Mystery Theatre was in fact two series - Carter Brown Mysteries (52 one-hour shows, each consisting of four 15 minute episodes) and the Carter Brown Mystery Theatre (26 half-hour shows).  Yates’s ear for dialogue meant that most of the dialogue came straight from the books. Each ‘one hour’ story is an intriguing mystery introduced personally by Carter Brown. To quote the original publicity material – each tale is “a mixture of blondes – bullets- and bewilderment!” The Australian produced Carter Brown radio series included a host of famous Australian talent including Ruth Cracknell, June Salter, Len Teale, Roger Climpson, John Meillon, Terry McDermott and Gordon Chater.  Episode List  - One hour shows: 1. Call For A Columnist 2. Nightmare For Knight 3. Felony in Fashion 4. Widow Is Willing 5. High Sky Hoodoo 6. Crime For A King 7. Bella Donna Was Poison 8. The Lady Was Lethal 9. Kudos For Kahn 10.
