The Great Jukebox Racket - A Radio Movie
The Great Jukebox Racket: a Radio Movie Presenter: Malcolm McLaren Cultured cockney, musician, impresario and punk-rock catalyst Malcolm McLaren returns to Radio 2 with another inventive and not easily defined journey. In this particular venture the jukebox plays a pivotal role, from London (romantic jukebox memories of American songs packed with sexual innuendo) and New York (organised crime a la Alan Freed and the payola scandal) to New Orleans, where he meets washed-up, still talented musicians who were once paid a few dollars for their jukebox songs. Producers: Kate Bland: Susan Marling Tue 23rd Dec 2008 22:30 on BBC Radio 2
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
