Reviews

great book but ruined by a poor reader.

(2 stars)

ch 5 part 1 is really bad. the reader seems to have a significant speech impediment. this not a personal attack, and I commend the reader for volunteering, but please redo this chapter with a different reader.

Theodore Roosevelt, Autobiography.

(3.5 stars)

'The River Of Doubt' is a much better book, if you are interested in his life right before and during his journey to South America...

great intellectual read

(5 stars)

the text itself by Roosevelt is a must read for any intellectual or person interested in the history of progessive policies in the United States. as with most librivox readings though, there are good and not so good readers. for the most part it is an enjoyable listen.

Everyone should read this!!!

(5 stars)

wow,what a great book!!all of this man's bookwork is great!!and 5-1 isn't that bad .

(3 stars)

I give up! I tried to continue listening but I cannot any longer.Chapter after chapter reader after reader who mumble including one who seemed to be drinking We appreciate that people are volunteering their time to read but you should take into consideration that the sole purpose of this website is that the public will want to listen and understand what is being read. Without minimum guidelines such as speak at a normal speed and to speak clearly you are defeating the purpose of this website. Some of your readers are exceptional but others are reading like they're trying to finish the book in 30 seconds and some you just cannot understand. This is the second book i tried to listen too.The other one i think it was Mobby Dick I was really getting into until there was a change in reader's. The one reader had a very heavy Indian accent. I tried to continue listening but eventual gave up. You met your object the book is now listed on your website but isn't the goal to have the public enjoy these fine books?

GOOD BOOK

(5 stars)

Found this book very informative and really enjoyed the entire book. Great job by all readers. One reader cannot ruin a whole book for me and I could understand reader in ch5 part1 just reads a little slow. Put your name on your comments next time and we can find your great narrations. Thanks so much to all volenteers we really appreciate you giving your time so we can listen to so many great books & LibriVox for making it all possible.

Great book!

(4 stars)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I have a much better understanding of life at the turn of the 20th century and of Theodore Roosevelt's life and philosophy. But there was that one reader that was very hard to understand. I believe you would do well to re-record those sections.

interesting

(4 stars)

I liked the book itself. It was interesting to hear some of his thoughts behind what he did. One chapter was impossible to listen to because the person mumbled as he spoke.
