Five Weeks in a Balloon

(4 stars)

it was a good story, NOT great, but good. I liked a quote in the last chapter that was from one of the men in the balloon after they reached home. He said "it was getting very wearysome in the balloon and if it weren't for falling into the lake and being chased they would surely have all died of yawning!" I AGREE!! If it weren't for Alex C. Telander saving it I would not have finished it. HE did a GREAT JOB!!

A Ripping Yarn.

(3 stars)

If you can forgive that and Verne's rather limited knowledge of Africa itself, you'll like it. The reader, Alex C. Telander, is somewhat disappointing. He reads so fast that he is often mumbling. It's certainly not a dramatic reading of the text.

Cool story

(4 stars)

This is the first Jules Verne book I ever read, pretty cool story idea, entertaining story, the geography and such is a bit off but its ok- its fiction and nonetheless well-written.... haven't listened to the audiobook, not sure about the reader.

GOOD FIRST EFFORT

(3.5 stars)

JV obviously honed his skills as a storyteller, but this first work shows the framework that he used in later and more entertaining novels. The narrator is very understandable.

alex reads fast but good.
