The Six Shooter
Trail to Sunset
by
The Six Shooter stars James Stewart as Britt Ponset, a wandering cowboy whose travels across the American West bring him into contact with people facing difficult choices and unexpected trouble. Stewart’s relaxed, distinctive voice gives Britt a thoughtful presence: he is capable with a gun, but often prefers patience, humor, and a fair hearing.
Each installment is a self-contained Western drama, built around a new encounter on the trail or in a frontier town. The stories draw on familiar Western settings—open country, isolated communities, and the tensions that arise when people meet far from the protection of the law—while keeping the focus on character and consequence.
The series balances action and suspense with a humane, understated tone. Stewart’s narration and performance make Britt feel like a companion recounting a story by the campfire, giving the program an intimate quality alongside its classic radio-Western atmosphere.
