The story is great. I love it! The only disappointment is that the reader pauses randomly as if he doesn't know what the next word is. Also, as another reviewer says, the introduction to each chapter is very loud as compared to the actual story itself. Quite shocking if listening with headphones. Would be 5/5 stars if the audio was corrected.

It took me back to watching the movie with my mother and father. Granted some more details but the way it was written and told it took me right to Oz.Can't wait to read or listen to the rest of his books.

well done is wonderfull!

I am over 30 yrs old and still enjoy this recording very much!! the only complaint is on its "sound quality". If librivox could upload a better quality of the recording, I am sure more listeners will love it.... Well done Mr. Hall!!... you made the story more enjoyable!!

To edit my original review...the reader must have rerecorded many chapters because it sounds much better. This is still my son's favorite. If sound quality stopped you before, it has improved.

First time.

This was my first audiobook and I must say it's pretty neat. I listened to this at work over two days. I'd probably like it better if I had the book to read along with, but that kinda defeats the purpose of an audiobook, right.? Anywho, classic story I enjoyed listening to.πŸ˜€

Great entertainment with great reading.

I listened to this book each time I was working out in the gym and it keeps me wanting to hit the gym everyday. The story is good, easy to follow even, suitable for all ages. Reader is good. Recommended.

more 'adult' than the movie

i always heard the book had more gore than the movie and it didn't dissapoint :). i really enjoyed this - narrator is great. he pauses a bit but hey, it's a free audiobook.
