The story is great. I love it! The only disappointment is that the reader pauses randomly as if he doesn't know what the next word is. Also, as another reviewer says, the introduction to each chapter is very loud as compared to the actual story itself. Quite shocking if listening with headphones. Would be 5/5 stars if the audio was corrected.

Wonderful

It took me back to watching the movie with my mother and father. Granted some more details but the way it was written and told it took me right to Oz.Can't wait to read or listen to the rest of his books.

Different to the film

(4 stars)

A good book and well read. All read by one readed which I prefer, my only real complaint was that the intro to each chapter was quit a bit louder than the chapters them selves, so you would set a comfortable volume for the chapter only to find the intro was far too loud. Other than that a very enjoyable read and interesting to see the variation between the original book and the later film version the book was a bit gory compared to it's film counterpart.

Great audio book! ^_^

I've always loved the film (and Return to Oz of course!) So its really lovely to be able to listen to the original version, it's a whole different journey!

amazing, the book is wonderful and I find myself reading the rest now. I'm 15 and thought myself "too old" but find I love the books. balm does stutter but also reads the books very well and clear.

Sliver Shoes Here

(5 stars)

I was excited to see that the OZ books where here. This is the first one from the series, and I have read it before, but it was a joy to listen to it. J.Hall is a great reader. Thanks for your hard work. If you only seen the movie, I recommended you take a listen. Many things are different, but I always like how these fictional worlds change over time, , because I do like the ruby slippers better.

more 'adult' than the movie

(4 stars)

i always heard the book had more gore than the movie and it didn't dissapoint :). i really enjoyed this - narrator is great. he pauses a bit but hey, it's a free audiobook.

Well done J Hall!!!

I am over 30 yrs old and still enjoy this recording very much!! the only complaint is on its "sound quality". If librivox could upload a better quality of the recording, I am sure more listeners will love it.... Well done Mr. Hall!!... you made the story more enjoyable!!
