In the High Valley" is the fifth and last book of the popular "What Katy did" series by Susan Coolidge. The story starts out with Lionel Young and his sister, Imogen who set out for the picturesque but remote High Valley (America), leaving their hometown Devonshire (England) behind. Lionel wants to take the share in Geoffrey Templestowe's cattle business. Imogen, owing to her prejudices against America and the American way of life, finds it hard to adjust to life over there. Clover Templestowe, now happily married and living in the High Valley, at first finds it very trying to get on with Imogen. A lot of events ensure in the course of which we meet again with Rose Red, get news from Cousin Helen and of course meet Katy again... until it all finally ends in a lovely double wedding! Oh, I'm SO disappointed!

(1 stars)

I have very happily listened to the previous 4 Katy Did books and looked so forward to this final book. Unfortunately after struggling to listen to the first 5 minutes I was forced to stop because I had no idea what was going on. While I admire anyone who can speak more than one language, this reader unfortunately needs to work ever so much harder on her pronunciation of English words so as to be understood by English listeners.. I certainly hope a second version can be produced with more understandable reader(s). Thank you.

Please Redo This Book

I sincerely appreciate all the effort Elli put in to this book. The only reason I'm leaving a one star review is that I hope someone will see it and realize a second recording is needed. I love this series so far and I can't wait to listen to this book also!

disappointed

The Book itself is wonderful. The reader however is difficult to understand. And at times sentences are so run together it's impossible to tell what she's saying. Her accent is wonderful but definitely not perfect as some say for this book.

Thanks for making this book available. The reader is excellent. She has a bit of an accent but it is perfect for the book.
