The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (version 2)
A collection of twelve short stories featuring Conan Doyle's legendary detective, originally published as single stories in Strand Magazine and subsequently collected into a single volume.
There is not always a crime committed nor a culprit to find, and when there is, Holmes does not invariably get his man. However, his extraordinary powers of deduction generally solve the mystery, often to the discomfiture of the official police force. Holmes is a man of many facets, and I do not share the common perception of Holmes as cold and humourless: his sense of fun can be sparkling, and there are moments of rare pathos. (Summary by Ruth Golding)

I love Sherlock Holmes and Ruth does a wonderful job of bringing the stories to life with her use of voices. I wish more would do this because the other readers all fall flat for me. A must listen if you are a fan.
Sherlock Holmes stories have become my preferred bedtime stories, and I've listened to several Librivox books. Ruth Golding is by far the best reader for these stories! She gives each character a distinct voice. and overall her voice is soothing and pleasant. I was sorry when I had finished all the stories, as I wanted more.
The book is read so well it's better than watching TV, very engaging, easy to follow. The reader speaks naturally with accents and speech patterns to match characters, it's like over hearing a conversation. 6 stars!!!!!
A Fascinating and Delightful Read
Holmes may judge my belief that this series of short stories was clearly an obvious delight! He says, "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact," but it's so interesting to follow him, from his dear friend Watson's view, on each of his twisting adventures. Ruth Golding does an AMAZING job of giving life and voice to all of the characters. I look forward to hearing more stories brought to life by her dynamic vocal portrayals. Would highly recommend!
I love the way Ruth reads these stories!! She brings each character to life with her different voice tones; which make the characters loveable and believable; especially Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. The voice she used for each sounds like what I think these men would have sounded like. A-one job in reading out loud. Ruth should get an award for such a superb reading.
We all know Sherlock Holmes stories are amazing but these five stars are for Ms. Golding.. Thank you for taking the time to read these stories. She has a great voice for audiobooks and the quality of sound is high. Thanks Ruth!!!
Loved it. the voice for Watson was a bit odd bit it was nice that all the different people in a story has their own voice so it was easy to tell them apart
Ruth Golding is sooooo awesome. I am amazed at how well she reads this book and how she switches between characters. Truly impressive. I just wish she would read the other Sherlock Books as well.
