The Lives of the Queens of England Volume 3

Read by Ann Boulais

(3.4 stars; 19 reviews)

The Lives of the Queens of England is a multi-volumed work attributed to Agnes Strickland, though it was mostly researched and written by her sister Elizabeth. These volumes give biographies of the queens of England from the Norman Conquest in 1066. Although by today's standards, it is not seen as a very scholarly work, the Stricklands used many sources that had not been used before.
Volume three includes the biographies of Isabella of Valois, Joanna of Navarre, Katherine of Valois, Margaret of Anjou, Elizabeth Woodville and Anne of Warwick. (Introduction by Ann Boulais) (12 hr 12 min)

Reviews

Wonderful way to delve deeper into English history

(4 stars)

The reader isn't as enjoyable as one could wish for, but the content makes me overlook the odd rhythm of her speech and the few words I pronounce with a different vowel sound or accent on a different syllable.

If I have to hear her scream "bret-a-gain one more time, I'm gonna lose it. Reader read allllll these books unfortunately and ruined them by reading them with the loud scream of someone reading aloud in church with no feeling and mispronouncing everything

I had to stop listening due to the reader's voice. it was awful. I hope someone reads this again so I can listen. I'll have to find the book in a library, maybe, if not.
