The novel on which the famous silent movie starring Rudolf Valentino was based. The plot is set in motion as Lady Conway disapproves of Diana's planning a desert trip with just her Arab guides to accompany her. Diana gets kidnapped by the Sheik, Ahmed Ben Hassan. Finally allowed to ride in the desert alone, she plans an escape. However, the Sheik recaptures her. And so the story unfolds. (Summary by Bill Boerst based on Wikipedia) (10 hr 33 min)

Male Reader

(1 stars)

Male Reader at Chapter 3A is enough to drive anyone crazy. He reads one word at a time, as an example: “One” “word” “at” “a” time.” I do hope he’s replaced in later chapters.

a passionate romance!

(5 stars)

A passionate romance, an enjoyable story! Far from politically correct by today's standards but once you get past that and treat it for the fantasy it is, it's a gripping and rollicking read.

a good story

A very old fashioned tale which needs editing to cut out some of the excess verbiage. But worth a listen.
