Jack London at his best

(5 stars)

Internal struggle between love and money. Which will win? Only Jack London can tell a tale so well from both sides without bias.

Adventure, love, history. What perspective. Sad it ended. Very well read. Thank you sir!

Jack London has done it again.

yet another marvelous story about discovering what's good in life.

Story's champion learns about life

Our hero is a man of steely mind and body. Jack London excels in philosophizing through the three stages of Burning Daylight's story: in the Alaskan Gold Rush, as a Californian entrepreneur, and finally as a Sonoma Mountain homesteader. If you love long descriptions of a character's thoughts, and detailed descriptions of beautiful nature proffered within a remarkable story, then this is a book you can't put down! Our hero's perspective rings true! Many thanks to the reader, Richaed Kilmer, so I could listen!

I was very disappointed in this book and maybe more so because Jack London is one of my very favorite authors starting when I was a young child with Call of the Wild followed by several other books and recently Martin Eden which is maybe his best but this seemed like just another book by anyone and a long one at that. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood. It was however narrated by one of the best.

Great listening

If you like Jack London then you're in for a treat. Not sure how this novel missed my attention up until now. The reading was quite consistent and overall, very good. I am a novice to audio books so I can't criticize other than to say that it seemed technically savvy and subjectively, a great voice to carry the story. It must be said the entire performance was great given how large the novel.

One of London’s lesser known titles, but a worthy read. Unfortunately, the novel’s reader doesn’t breathe any life into the text. His delivery is stilted, monotone, and marred with errors in pronunciation. The book is worth five stars, but the reading brings it down a notch.
