This is one of the better books in the series but for some reason the majority of it was read by a monotone robot. I had a hard time listening to the book when she was reading but since it is the only free version (I am a cheap a$$) and I am listening to the entire series, I pushed through. I know I shouldn't complain about what is free, but I'm less likely to by a book on here knowing that the reading might be this terrible. something to consider there liverbox.
Pretty Decent!

It was pretty good overall. Of course there was some bad accents and a few times where it was hard to understand the reader. That's pretty much par for most of the free books. Great book though and I'm glad they finally finished it! It was annoying that they did the whole series and left out a book in the middle!!! Love Alexandre Dumas!!!!

90% of the reading was done by volunteers without a clue as to French pronunciation. Therefore, some characters had 4 or 5 names depending on which letters were pronounced. One reader has a monotone voice and since she did most chapters, the book was less interesting than all the previous ones

This book was a slog to get through. While the plot finally picked up towards the end, at least 2/3 of the book was mundane court drama. Additionally, a significant portion of the book was read by one very monotone reader that made the story even more difficult to endure.
Getting Good!

It is getting good as the story picks up and the plots get deeper and darker. So much more than the movies. So much deeper and powerful. Now the story spirals to its dramatic conclusion in The Man in the Iron Mask. Can't wait!

This is a great story. I'm glad the entire Three Musketeers series is now available. Unfortunately, the pronunciations of French names and places by most of the readers is so horrible that it was painful to listen.
Not as engaging as 3 musketeers

Fiona
The story was a lot less engaging than some of the others up until the last 15 chapters. Decent readers, although the audio quality could be a bit better.
bad readers, good story

the reading of dion and tod was painful to listen to. the story itself is more gripping than the ones before it and so i endured the bad reading.
