I Was a Teen-Age Secret Weapon

(4.3 stars; 55 reviews)

Poor Dolliver Wims is a terribly misunderstood teen age boy from the backwoods. Is he mean or evil? Quite the opposite: He does nothing wrong, hurts no one and wants only to be liked and to help, yet he seems to be blamed for every accident that ever happens to anyone in the University research facility where he 'works' as a porter. Why does disaster seem to swirl around him like a tornado whips around it's eye. He never is hurt in the slightest way while others slash themselves with previously innocent knives, are smashed by falling bookcases that had no cause to fall, and are shot by guns that are safely tucked away. And of course when he enters the army, with it's concentrated availability of destructive equipment, the situation only seems to get worse. Why? Listen to this delightful tale of future wars and a secret weapon named Dolliver Wims and how he may be the key to world peace. Or perhaps it's the other way around .... Entertaining

(3 stars)

Dolliver Wims is a genial unassuming teenager, who without laying a hand on anything or anyone manages to spark mayhem wherever he goes. When the United States Government discovers his unique gift, they decide to use him the best way they know how - as a secret weapon against the Commies. This was an entertaining short story, and I liked the mc, even though he didn't have a clue what was going on around him. As a short story, a number of details were excluded. And while the ending was suitably ironic, I would have liked to know how Dolliver fared at the end of his mission. Thanks for the great read Phil.

A Fun Listen

(3.5 stars)

Good clean fun, writing is crisp, voice actor is enthusiastic and well modulated with fun attempts at accents. The storyline is silly but hey, we could all use a little silly right about now. Ending is a tad abrupt and it's subtlety may have escaped some other reviewers. Definitely worth the time to say nothing of the cost. Enjoy!

Fun!

This is a light and comical story line. BUT what motivated me to write this review is because I wanted to say thank you to the reader, Phil. He is so enjoyable. Do a search for his name and see the wonderful books that he chose to read. Thank you Phil!!!

Great little story

(5 stars)

Great story. I especially like his question marks insignia. The ending was a little strange, though. I didn't quite understand the significance of the fall in that context. As always, Phil did an excellent job reading.

Hilarious
