Anthem is a dystopian fiction novella by Ayn Rand, written in 1937 and first published in 1938 in England. It takes place at some unspecified future date when mankind has entered another dark age characterized by irrationality, collectivism, and socialistic thinking and economics. Technological advancement is now carefully planned (when it is allowed to occur at all) and the concept of individuality has been eliminated (for example, the use of the word "I" is punishable by death). Never forget the power of I

(5 stars)

Great book on rediscovering the power of the individual. An anti-socialism and anti-communism masterpiece that shows the fallacy of thinking you have no power other than that the establishment gives you. great work ahead of its time. in the vein of 1984 and A Brave New World

Excellent reading

(5 stars)

A very good reading - clear and pleasant of voice and not lacking in the conviction demanded by Rand's song to the self. Thank you.

(4.5 stars)

A well-written, well-read anti-socialism dystopia. Relatively short, good for a two-hour trip.

Riveting & Relevant story ...Excellent reader

(5 stars)

This was my first time "reading" Ayn Rand, and it was very enjoyable. I have a weakness for dystopian literature, however this was easily among the best stories of that type. The story itself is entertaining and quite relevant to today's world. The reader was flawless and I love the gravity of his voice, it worked perfect for this novella. This is now among my favorite books, thanks Librivox!

Et in Arcadia Ego

(5 stars)

With a good reader, the story can hold more truth. Even though Rand made his message short, the weight behind it carries much momentum and will carry on long, long after his death. This is a great download, so download it and install the message. :)

Well done

Read clearly, read at an appropriate pace (not slow enough to be boring, as many readers are), read with sufficiently different voices for different characters. Thank you, I enjoyed it.

Great!

Narrator did a great job. Great enunciation and emphasis. It's a clean and crisp recording. I didn't notice any static or background noise. I enjoyed the audiobook very much.

The reader has done an excellent job. I thought that the book was ok but not great unlike some of the other books of the same author.
