"Herbert West—Reanimator" is a story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft that was first serialized in February through July 1922 in the amateur publication Home Brew. The story was the basis of the 1985 horror film Re-Animator and its sequels, in addition to numerous other adaptations in various media. You want zombies? Listen to this because Lovecraft was one of the very first and he got zombies right: scary, evil, implacable and out to get you. (Summary by Phil Chenevert ) (1 hr 29 min)

surprised!

I'm not generally a fan of zombie media, but lately I've been plowing through many of Mr. Lovecrafts works. I avoided this one for some time because of the subject matter. I've just finished reading it and I can say that I've been no less impressed by this piece of literary work than any of his other bests. After reading so many of his other works I should have known this one would be fantastic. I feel sure his fans and fans of zombie media alike will love this dark read.

Excellent Reading

This text is one of my favorites, so I was hesitant to listen to it and have it potentially ruined. But the reader is clear, free of corny sound effects, and the pace is perfect.

Meh

Probably the worst Lovecraft story I have heard to date, reader has a slow paced monotonous tone that draws out an already repetitive story longer than it should. Stick to Lovecrafts other works.

Very well read

There is at least one other reading of this story that is found in another collection but this narration I find much more enjoyable.
