What a story! Excellently read! I wonder how many poor women (or men) understand economics! Trollope is a master storyteller. At times you feel a sense of deep frustration over the obstinacy of the Frau in not raising her prices. This story has a dramatic quality about it. The meeting between the Frau and Hogg the butcher is the turning point. And what a beautiful ending! Rare to find a writer who understands human psychology and human personality so well as Trollope. And this story tugs at the heart-strings, esp the scene in Hogg's butcher shop.

This is the first book by Anthony Trollope I ever read or heard, having had for many years a misguided notion about the author, poor man. I found it quite delightfful, even though quite dated, of course. Will read more of his books. Nicholas Clifford's reading had his accustomed excellent quality. Thank you.
Delightful Stories

The stories are each unique and read by Professor Clifford are engaging. My heart is broken by the death of Nicholas Clifford and he is already missed.
