Great stories from Australia's past, classic. Read the book and enjoyed it even more listening to a great narrator, well done and thank you.
Dark humor? Or bitter despair?

Okay, it is written well and humorously (and read well). It’s full of interesting characters and piquant situations. It is also a story of relentless poverty, almost complete hopelessness and near-starvation. So... maybe I’m just not in the right mood for this?
really funny
