THE MEL BLANC SHOW

Mel Blanc's success on The Jack Benny Program led to his own radio show on the CBS Radio Network, The Mel Blanc Show, which ran from September 3, 1946 to June 24, 1947. Blanc played himself as the hapless owner of a fix-it shop, as well as a wide range of comical support characters. Other regular characters were played by Mary Jane Croft, Joseph Kearns, Hans Conreid, Alan Reed, Earle Ross, Jim Backus, Bea Benaderet and The Sportsmen Quartet, who would supply a song and sing the Colgate Tooth Powder commercials. For 50 years, Mel Blanc was the voice of many popular cartoon characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, The Tasmanian Devil, Pepe LePew, Marvin the Martian, the RoadRunner ("Meep, meep!"), Barney Rubble, and Woody Woodpecker. From the Old Time Radio Researcher's Group. See "Note" Section below for more information on the OTRR.

One of my all-time favorites when it comes to radio comedies. I've listened to every episode at least twice and still laugh my head off silly to them. Thanks you OTRR you guys are so blessed.

There's a reason you never heard this show

I love Mel Blanc cartoons but there is a reason he only had this one short-lived radio show. It is mildly funny in spots, incredibly bad in others. The pointless character for whom he does a voice that is sort of a mix between Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd is painfully bad. Oh, well. Despite this embarrassing blot, he's still a national treasure.

not possibly, but obviously a repeat

The Missing Bread Slices is actually a repeat of #24. Maybe if these "researchers" wasted less time on posting the silly "certified" definitions repeatedly, they would have a chance to check for duplicates before uploading.

classic old favourite

I love this show! So fun, cute, and light hearted. it's a very well written audio slap stick situational comedy and I'm so glad this platform provides access to this show.
