PORTS OF CALL

An obscure series from 1935 or 1936 in which each episode deals with a voyage to a different country where events of that country's history are dramatized. They each begin with the low moan of a tramp steamer's whistle and the announcement of the series title, followed by a musical interlude. From the Old Time Radio Researcher's Group. See "Note" Section below for more information on the OTRR.

Another Time-Tunnel Series

(5 Sterne)

How historically accurate these episodes may be, is debatable. Never-the-less, they are great fun listening. A trip back to the years before WW2, and a world not yet forever changed. Makes you wish the mournfull horn of a tramp steamer could still be heard. The music score was timed so that stations subscribed to this pre-recorded series could fill in their local commercials while it played.
