Excellent stories

(4 Sterne)

Calling Lanagan an amateur detective is somewhat misleading, as the character is an indefatigable reporter for the San Francisco Inquirer, running down the police blotter cases to get the scoop by solving the cases himself and handing the credit off to the police, while he gets the exclusive for his paper. The pithy conversational style was very enjoyable but definitely required my full attention. Likewise, the narrator has a style that took me a little time to get used to but ultimately I found his staccato style was well suited to the author's intentions.

(4,5 Sterne)

The book is fun and interesting but not extraordinary. That said, I will look for more by the author because it is not tedious. The narration does make it better. David Wales has a reading style all his own which accords some books more interest than they would have otherwise. Thank you.

Excrllent Reader

(5 Sterne)

David Wales is an excellent reader. He has a very unique style. He has read some of my favorite books. The two elements that ruin a narration are reading too fast and producing a poor recording. 5 Stars for David Wales.

Lanigan Amateaur Detective

(4 Sterne)

4 stars only because the appeal will be limited to those readers who, like myself, are aficionados of the style of these early detectives stories. Great narrator.

SHORT AND SWEET

(5 Sterne)

A collection of interesting little stories which glorify a reporter. They read much like Hollywood grade B one reelers of the 30's. Excellent narration.

(5 Sterne)

the stories have been light hearted and mildly entertaining. just what the doctor ordered.

(5 Sterne)

Good author, good displays of human nature, good reader.
