Doctor Izard

Gelesen von Lee Smalley

(4,385 Sterne; 130 Bewertungen)

The opening scene takes place in a hospital ward where two patients lie, apparently dying, when a man enters and offers a proposition to one of them. The story then shifts to another town where, years earlier, Polly Earle’s mother died of unknown causes and her father disappeared, leaving Polly, a small child, parentless and penniless. Raised by neighbors, Polly is now a beautiful young woman engaged to be married. A stranger arrives and makes an unsettling request of Polly. Doctor Izard, an intensely private person who had attended her mother, becomes involved. Anna Katherine Green, a prolific and popular mystery writer, was considered to be "The American Agatha Christie". (Lee Smalley) (5 hr 1 min)

WAIT FOR THE LAST CHAPTER

(5 Sterne)

Not AKG at her best. The story lacks her usual attraction, although it is still very interesting. But, she redeems herself with the final chapter.

Good story..great reading!

The story line and plot were good...just not as polished as others of MKG. Maybe this was one of her early ones.... but the reader was excellent!

An interesting listen but it didn't really grab me. A few twists to keep you listening. AKG certainly wrote better.

Maybe not one of her best, but with the ending, none has a better ending. Reader was great

Another fine tale of mystery and tragedy by Anna Katherine Green. Very well written and excellently read.

I loved it! And the narrator kept me listening until the wee hours to hear the ending.

Not her best but ok as a short read between longer novels
