Uneven but great in spots

(3,5 Sterne)

The first three readers are excellent but with varying audio quality. The fourth reader supplies the best example of "how not to do a Librivox recording" I have heard. If you survive it, the fifth reader sounds pretty good. All said, this team of volunteers helped put us in the Christmas spirit.

love it

Love how clear it was and the way that you could adjust the speed. I had a paper due in 2 hours and I finished the book in less than 45 min!

A good classic, short story

I've seen many movie versions of this and decided I wanted to read the book. The readers did a good job and it was enjoyable to listen tok

I am a janitor at a small school in the Dandenong Ranges near Melbourne Australia. Each year i listen to this rendition and enjoy it very much.I upload it on my walkman about the last week of November and listen to a stave each day.The wonderful voice of Kayra and the others bring the story to life.I laugh at some bits such as "ITs your your uncle scroooge! or at scrooges new life voice.Wonderful.I also shed a tear for Scrooges young life left behind at his school or God bless each one by tiny tim.The readers really love what they are reading. Its a christmas tradition that i cherish each year at a very high stressful time.

What a pleasure to hear this story again. Considering the fact that it was recorded in 2005, when Libreville first came to my attention, I am impressed all over again. I don't usually enjoy the changing readers, these readers do an awesome job. So grateful to the people who have put forth the effort to find these old books, locate people who spend their time, freely, to record them for the book loving people, like me. Thanks

A wonderful Christmas Classic

The first three readers were decent in quality of reading, though the sound quality of Stave three was lacking. While I admire anyone who volunteers to read, the reader of Stave Four really needs to improve significantly. He made the book so uninteresting and boring I almost deleted the recording from my list. Reader Five was a significant improvement.

I agree with kquinkert...

(2 Sterne)

Yes, I think "kquinkert" is right, and I can only reward these recordings with a 2-star rating. One that is quite superior is the one "kquinkert" mentions at http://www.archive.org/details/AChristmasCarolReadByPatrickStewart. Although I have read A Christmas Carol several times, I thoroughly enjoyed this interpretation, masterly performed by Patrick Stewart. He deservs a 5-star rating in my opinion.

Amazing Story!

This is my all-time favorite Christmas book! The narration is superb! I feel that A Christmas Carol often gets over looked for it’s true message and potential, but it’s a story I value highly. I listen to it several times leading up to, and throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to get me in the true spirit!
