Princes and Poisoners: Studies of the Court of Louis XIV

Gelesen von Jane Bennett

(3,75 Sterne; 4 Bewertungen)

The court of French King Louis XIV was not a safe place to be. It was filled with plots and intrigues, leaving observers and commentators with more questions than answers among speculation and innuendo. Funck-Brentano was a scholar, librarian and expert on the political climate of eighteenth century France. Backing up his work with research in the archives of the Bastille, he attempts to explain and throw light on the tumultuous times. - Summary by Lynne Thompson (8 hr 15 min)

A somewhat salacious retelling of notable cases of poisoning

(4 Sterne)

I found the details somewhat repetitive from one case to the next, but who doesn't live stories of witchcraft and poisoning among the aristocrats? I thoroughly enjoyed the reader for this work. He voice has gravitas and she is fluid with the many French names and expressions. Brava!

terrible reader

I had to stop couldn't tolerate the reader.
