A quest to track down his missing uncle (Mr. Linthwaite) leads investigative journalist Richard Brixey to the mysterious medieval town of Silchester, England. What actually happened in the ruins of the Priory, and why are all the potential witnesses so uncooperative? Who is the mysterious Mrs. Byfield and what is her long-buried connection to Mr. Linthwaite? What is the secret plot that Mr. Linthwaite stumbled into, and so had to be removed? Is he dead or alive?

And, will the energetic Brixey fall for the lovely Miss Georgina or not?

A fascinating British mystery by a master of the genre. (Summary by Steven Seitel) (7 hr 20 min)

Good story not the usual who done it more like well, who done what? I'll look for more Fletcher. Steven Sitel excellent reading. And only one chapter of the corny love story typical of the 19 teens.

Good read!

J.S. Fletcher is one of my favorite old time mystery writers. This was an enjoyable listen. The reader did an excellent job!

I really liked the story and the reader was excellent.

An enjoyable mystery

(5 Sterne)

The book is set in the not so distant past, and moves along at an enjoyable pace. I really wanted to know what was going to happen next, and the twists and turns were entertaining. I very much enjoyed Steven Seital's narration. As a 'Britisher', I can say some of the place names were given a slightly different pronunciation, but for me, this just added to the overall charm of the whole enterprise: the Book and the Narration. Thank you Mr Seital. If you are looking for an entertaining mystery without some of the 'hidden' underlying violence and negativity in some of Sherlock Holmes, Dorothy L Sayers, Agatha Christie etc, I'm sure you will enjoy this book.

Excellent Mystery
