Storm Over Warlock

The Throg task force struck the Terran survey camp a few minutes after dawn, without warning, and with a deadly precision which argued that the aliens had fully reconnoitered and prepared that attack. Eye-searing lances of energy lashed back and forth across the base with methodical accuracy. And a single cowering witness, flattened on a ledge in the heights above, knew that when the last of those yellow-red bolts fell, nothing human would be left alive down there.

And so Shann Lantee, most menial of the Terrans attached to the camp on the planet Warlock, was left alone and weaponless in the strange, hostile world, the human prey of the aliens from space and the aliens on the ground alike. (Summary from Front Cover) (7 hr 17 min)

Hey

We're sorry that you found this reading not to your liking. I, however, happen to enjoy R.J.'s voice along with several other people, so point being "to each there own". Also, LibriVox is an equal opportunity service and does not turn down any readers. This is in keeping with our over all mission of recording all PD texts. This is a goal which requires all the help which we can get. LibriVox does however accept multiple versions, so you are welcome to contribute your own version. Thanks for listening!

Fun old-fashioned scifi

(5 Sterne)

I always love to read or listen to old science fiction from 50 years ago - and Storm over Warlock is no exception. A fun story, a neat glimpse into the future as it might have been, and a great reader with a classic Southern drawl. RJ Davis reminds me of the reader of the professionally produced Dragonriders of Pern series, and he brings a down-home flavor to a story set in a fantastic world. I can't wait for more!

Reading Good

English is not my mother tongue but in spite of this the reader, with his charming southern USA dialect, could be well understood and I listened with thankfulness and great enjoyment. :)

cant stop lisyening!

Captivating storyline! I could not stop listening, despite this being one of my lrast favorite readers. even his plodding style couldnt reduce the excitement of the story.

great story terrible sound quality

(2 Sterne)

The Story is really great, But the sound quality is so poor that you cannot hear 30 percent of what it said.

Love it.

Love the story so far. Adventure right from the start. Narrators voice is so soothing,, it reminds me of my grandfather's.

There's a better read version.

There is a much better version of this title read by Mark Nelson in the archive.
