Join three intrepid explorers as they seek to cross and explore the continent of Africa from Indian Ocean to Atlantic Ocean, except they’re doing it by hot air balloon. Scholar and scientist Samuel Ferguson, his manservant Joe, and his friend Richard “Dick” Kennedy engage in this mighty scientific feat, as they face danger after danger, enjoy adventure after adventure, and experience the literal highs and lows of Africa from the view of a hot air balloon. Five Weeks in a Balloon

(4 Sterne)

it was a good story, NOT great, but good. I liked a quote in the last chapter that was from one of the men in the balloon after they reached home. He said "it was getting very wearysome in the balloon and if it weren't for falling into the lake and being chased they would surely have all died of yawning!" I AGREE!! If it weren't for Alex C. Telander saving it I would not have finished it. HE did a GREAT JOB!!

A Ripping Yarn.

(3 Sterne)

If you can forgive that and Verne's rather limited knowledge of Africa itself, you'll like it. The reader, Alex C. Telander, is somewhat disappointing. He reads so fast that he is often mumbling. It's certainly not a dramatic reading of the text.

Cool story

(4 Sterne)

This is the first Jules Verne book I ever read, pretty cool story idea, entertaining story, the geography and such is a bit off but its ok- its fiction and nonetheless well-written.... haven't listened to the audiobook, not sure about the reader.

GOOD FIRST EFFORT

(3,5 Sterne)

JV obviously honed his skills as a storyteller, but this first work shows the framework that he used in later and more entertaining novels. The narrator is very understandable.

(5 Sterne)

A great story but not my favorite narrator. Mispronunciations, poor annunciations, occasional slurs, and a general lack of energy.

alex reads fast but good.
