The Wrong Box is a comedy about the ending of a tontine (a tontine is an arrangement whereby a number of young people subscribe to a fund which is then closed and invested until all but one of the subscribers have died. That last subscriber then receives the whole of the proceeds). The story involves the last two such survivors and their relations, a train crash, missing uncles, surplus dead bodies and innocent bystanders. A farce really. (Summary by AJM)

I don't know when I've enjoyed a story more. Maybe there weren't any pirates but this character-driven story is truly hilarious and wonderful and Andy Minter's reading brings it brilliantly to life.

Robert Louis Stevenson "lite"

This is a fun frolic, quite amusing and intriguing for the first half but grew a bit stale by the second. Mr. Minter's narration was excellent and was probably the reason why I stuck with book long after I grew bored with the tale. Probably would be more enjoyable if you don't go into it expecting one of Stevenson's "yipping good yarns" but rather a light comedy.

Such a funny story

Oh what a tangled web we weave... the turns and tangles of this story made for a very enjoyable listen. The reader did an excellent job!

The least likely RLS story ever.It would make a great Peter Sellers movie. Mr. Minter's narration was the iceing on the cake. Enjoy!

A superb farce.

Wonderfully reminiscent of PG Wodehouse. Delightfully cascading missteps and comedic turnabouts weave throughout this delightful tale. Excellent reader as well.

Great fun

Not what I expected from Stevenson, but a lot of slapstick hilarity. Amazing performance by the reader.

Amusing story and a fantastic reader.

Reasonably diverting

Exceptionally well read by Ann Denentet. The varying personae are expertly portrayed. The plot, yes well...
