"The expedition of Messrs. Lewis and Clarke, for exploring the river Missouri, and the best communication from that to the Pacific Ocean, has had all the success which could be expected. They have traced the Missouri nearly to its source; descended the Columbia to the Pacific Ocean, ascertained with accuracy the Geography, of that interesting communication across the continent; learned the character of the country, its commerce and inhabitants; and it is but justice to say that Messrs. Lewis and Clarke, and their brave companions, have, by this arduous service, deserved well of their country." This volume is the 1840 edition with woodcut images and an Indian vocabulary. Factual, but dry and boring

(1 Sterne)

I listened to this book hoping for the story of Lewis and Clarke’s journey, but this tome is dedicated to listing facts about the land, flora, fauna, and Indians. Interesting if you’re digging deep into history, but not for the lovers of narratives.

Multiple Readers

(4 Sterne)

This is an interesting book for history lovers. The only problem with this recording is that some of the voices sound very mechanical and have unusual ways of emphasizing their words and sentences. This makes some of the chapters hard to listen to. Overall, very good.

it is just facts and data.. but I really enjoyed it it's about geography and minerals tribes and cultures

monotone

can't handle the monotone readers

M y Honest Review

(4,5 Sterne)

If you're interested in history, or of Lewis and Clarke, please read. It is dry and the reader could be better to bring the read to life, but this man(Lewis) was trekking the outdoors, and just needed to scribble some notes, before getting lost in his work. Please note this, but it doesn't mean you NEED to like it.
