The Gambler is a short novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky about a young tutor in the employment of a formerly wealthy Russian general. The novella reflects Dostoevsky's own addiction to roulette, which was in more ways than one the inspiration for the book: Dostoevsky completed the novella under a strict deadline so he could pay off gambling debts. Impulse and self loathing at it's finest. A man without a cause selling thrills he doesn't enjoy once away from the high of roulette. Narrator GREAT!!

Yet another brilliant work by a master wordsmith and narrator. Great job by the reader.
