This is a collection of public domain science fiction stories which were turned into half-hour plays for the classic mid-1950's American radio series, X Minus One. The radio versions were classics and I am happy to see these well-read original short stories. The stories are, of course, more slow to develop than are the radio plays but that's OK, as it takes us into the realm of a good sci-fi reading experience. The radio plays eventually exeeded the written material and can be found at http://www.archive.org/details/XMinus1_A The radio plays were revived in the 1980s and played on at least one major US station until 2002.

this is super its great to be able to listen to the story and see the differences if i didnt sound like a stuttering saul rosenburg i'd give it a whack cant wait for the seventh order,c-chute,first contact those are my faves looks like they did end as a world but its not in the "project" http://www.archive.org/download/short_science_fiction_068_2006_librivox/ssf068_03_various_128kb.mp3

Good short stories all though some are long enough that they are their own books in the Librivox catalog.

An unsettling story to say the least. Especially since A.I. is so close on our horizon. And hard to believe that an A.I. society wouldn't enjoy plays by Shakespeare featuring little humans who thought their lives had meaning.
