Frado is a colored girl, living in the USA a few years before the Civil War. She is abandoned by her own white mother in the house of the Bellmont's- where she is treated badly. This is a sad book, but Frado's cheerfulness and dignity will make you love her until the end. (Introduction by Stav Nisser) (2 hr 39 min)

well read - an ok story

(3 Sterne)

the reader did a nice job of reading clearly and at a good pace. the story is not much of a story. it starts off like it could be a good story of a white woman marrying a black man for convenience sake and having children then the story follows the child she abandoned. but it starts jumping many years at a time and just rushes on without much story behind it and suddenly in a matter of a few chapters everyone is old. this is a book you can skip.
