A New Favorite

I love all things Jane Austen, and this was my first time reading Sense and Sensibility. I absolutely adore it! What a lovely story. It’s the type that makes you alternately laugh or cry. It dealt with slightly heavier subjects than some other Austen works, and at times was quite sad, but Jane manages to keep optimism and wry humor throughout the book. As always, Karen Savage is phenomenal. She does such an excellent job with dialogue that I felt like I was watching a movie. Entirely worth the five stars, and more!
Lovely narration
Heidi
Karen Savage has done a fabulous job with this narration! While the novel itself gets 4 stars from me, I simply must add another half star to my rating of this audiobook version because the narrator has improved my enjoyment of the text tremendously.
Austen and Savage all the way
Emmanuelle
Karen Savage as always does an excellent narration of the book. Thanks to her professional nuance and use of inflection I found I was able to understand long complicated phrases and pithy quotes that otherwise I would not have understood. I’ve always loved the 1995 film adaptation of S & S and Karen does an excellent job brining the original novel to life. Is there any felicity in the world superior to a good Austen novel read by a great narrator?
Narrator is really the best
Karen Savage is for me one of the best narrators of librivox. I loved her perfection in interpreting the different characters with different voices. I loved the novel, in particular in its second part, where dialogues are more frequent and the story starts to take more action. I found in this novel some kind of a modern vision by Jane austen, I really appreciated it.
Jane at her snarky best

Sense and Sensibility truly defines the 'comedy of manners'. I prefer her books in audio format, because I miss too many of the subtle digs when I'm reading. And Karen Savage is a professional-quality voice actress; she interprets all the subtle jokes perfectly. If you've been intimidated out of reading the 'classics' of English literature, try this one! (and it's free!)
a great listen

a really well read and acted reading of Sense and Sensibility. when i first read this years ago i wasn't really in love with the characters, but listening to Savage gives them an endearing quality that i somehow didn't find with the books. i really enjoyed listening to this, and it kept me company as i sewed. so (pun intended) thanks!
