The love that develops between Luke Rowan and Rachel Ray is not universally welcomed. Mrs. Tappitt- a rich, influential, and bad woman - wishes him to marry one of her own daughters, while Rachel's mother and older sister are not sure he is worthy of her. After many adventures, everybody gets what they deserve. Characteristically to Trollope's works, there is also a secondary plot involving the election of parliament in Baslehurst."
Summary by Stav Nisser.

The book lives still because of its delicate little scenes of comedy, the meeting of the lovers, Mrs. Tappitt's ball, the bedroom confidences of the Tappitts, Rachel's talks with her mother. -Walpole (13 hr 55 min)

Marvellous novel read by wonderful readers.

(5 Sterne)

A big thank you to the wonderful readers for bringing this novel to life. This is one of my favourite of Trollope's novels involving politics, wisdom and romance in the context of the provincial life of England. The readers are exceptional and it was a joy to have listened to them.

A nice, satisfying story - - just what one would expect of Anthony Trollop.

Entertaining, amusing!

Wonderful story and well read by readers, who all did a fabulous job! Thank you to all who so generously give time and effort to make it possible for us to listen with such enjoyment to excellent novels. Such an amusing and insightful look into life in that era.

TROLLOPE CAN WRITE A FIFTEEN-HOUR NOVEL

(5 Sterne)

Though long by many standards, Rachel Ray is brief by TROLLOPE standards. Not as complicated as some of his works, he nevertheless entertains us with a rogue clergyman and two judgemental gossips. Perhaps this is the best read by multiple readers.

Sweet Romance

(5 Sterne)

Anthony Trollope is delightful. I often laughed out loud. This is a good-hearted, innocent, romance. So sweet! All the readers were good, although a few seemed to have small technical problems. Thanks.

Thank-you. Another wonderful reading. Less one star only because this seems to be one of Trollope's less fascinating texts. Nothing to do with the readers.

Delightful Distraction

(5 Sterne)

Rachel Ray offers collection of readers that are quite wonderful and a sweet romance in Trollope’s absorbing style.

Good book. Some inconsistencies in recording quality from reader to reader but overall enjoyable story line.
