"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is a short story by Washington Irving contained in his collection The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent., written while he was living in Birmingham, England, and first published in 1820. It was based on a German folktale set in the Dutch culture of Post-Revolutionary War in New York State. Amazing story and even better voice.

My greatest hatred of audio books is how awful the narrators voices usually are. However, this was indeed an exception to that rule. This narrator had a fantastic voice and in my opinion should be the narrator for all books of this genre.

<br />Bob Neufeld is one of the great American actors of the spoken word, with LibriVox or anywhere for that matter. Although I've read this story a number of times, it's well worth a revisit with Bob's wonderful narration. It's such a neatly done tale evocative of a newborn country haunted by the ghosts of the past and energized by the possibilities of a bright future. [STB|98|072012]

Beautifully read! A true story telling voice for such a tale.

I often hear a voice and think, I would love for him to read me a bedtime story. This is one of those voices- telling an enchanting tale to be heard again and again. Wrought with descriptions that put you there in the small town of Sleepy Hollow.

great narrator!

I really enjoyed this recording. It was well read and reminded me of the Disney version a lot. I've always loved Sleepy Hollow and it was great to hear the story!

I loved how he described the looks of the forest during the autumn. The ending was obvious half-through the book but still I laughed and pitied Ichabod for his cowardly nature.

What an absolutely wonderful story!

The story is of course absolutely wonderful. But what made it even better was the narrator. The narration really puts you into the scenes.

going with the consensus

I have to follow popular opinions this time! Bob is awesome! And of course the story is age old and timelessly classic!
