Six Creepy Stories by Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe has the ability to manipulate language so well that he could engage my imagination and get me terrified even though little was 'done' in the sense of horrible actions described. My imagination, under the power of his creepy words, conjured the atmosphere and did the rest by itself. In this recording I've chosen some of his stories that succeed so well in leaving lingering hair raising memories with me: The Telltale Heart; The Masque of the Red Death; The Black Cat; The Raven, the Casque of Amontillado and Berenice. I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I did reading them. (Summary by phil chenevert) (1 hr 59 min)

Creepy Tales By: Edgar Allen Poe

I loved hearing his literary works told by this narrator. His voice was easy to listen too and he spoke enthusiastically whenever parts of the story required it. This is my first book using this app and look forward to more!

I'm learning about Edgar Allan Poe in my . Class and I'm in 8th grade and my teacher got me addicted to this story that were reading this week so I love Edgar Allan Poe

I like the tone, pauses and the pronounciation of the reader, specially the reading of The Raven. As I am not a native English speaker, I easily understood the pronounciations. Better done than other readers of Edgar's work at librivox.

Very good

Double thumbs up to the reader for he has read fairly clear enough, much better then those other readers who I have encountered , whose recording of the same stories were poor and uninteresting.

pleasant

brilliant reading and most brilliant tone and reading. first time hearing Edgar Allan Poe's stories and it was done amazingly. I have no bad points well done to the reader.

good recording, although I've read this specific story by Edgar Allan Poe many times... its like a movie vs a book. I guess I've been reading it with more passion. ... kind of dulled down one of my all time favorites.

easily drowned out

Maybe it's because I have ADHD but I couldn't focus on this narrator at all. I would easily think about other things and be lost as to what was happening in the story. I listened to the first 3 short stories then had to stop. Also some of his pronunciation and his cadence drove me nuts. I can see how some might like it but his emphasis and excitement seemed misplaced that could have been focused better elsewhere.
