William Morris was an English textile designer, artist, writer, and libertarian socialist associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and English Arts and Crafts Movement. He was instrumental in establishing the modern fantasy genre, and thus influenced writers such as J. R. R. Tolkien.
