At one time Race Cargill had been the best Terran Intelligence agent on the complex and mysterious planet of Wolf. He had repeatedly imperiled his life amongst the half-human and non-human creatures of the sullen world. And he had repeatedly accomplished the fantastic missions until his name was emblazoned with glory.

But that had all seemingly ended. For six long years he'd sat behind a boring desk inside the fenced-in Terran Headquarters, cut off there ever since he and a rival had scarred and ripped each other in blood-feud.

But when THE DOOR THROUGH SPACE swung suddenly open, the feud was on again—and with it a plot designed to check and destroy the Terran Empire. (original book blurb)

I was less thrilled with this book than I was with The Colors of Space. The story and characters weren't as captivating. I did not care as much for the narrators either. The female voice read slightly faster than I could follow without actively concentrating. I listen to audio books while I drive, so I actively concentrate on that and listen more passively.

I enjoyed the first half of the story , it seemed to lose its way around the second half also I couldn't get used to the male voice of Clive catteral , I just couldn't get back into the story , sort of ruined it .

Excellent story

the author painted a vivid and believable world the hero must weave through. The story was gripping and compelling. I thought it was fantastic. both narrators did a good job of capturing the feel of the story. I highly recommend.

Beautiful.

This story is as fresh today as it was when written. Fantastic author knows how to write a great sci-fi story. Wish there was more to come. The narrators did a fantastic job expressing the different characters. Peter T.

Fairly Good story

(4 Sterne)

Really enjoyed the intrigued at the beginning. the last few chapters kind of fell a little flat. Author could have expanded the relationship more. it felt rushed to the ending. Both readers did a great job.

great fantasy tale

Good readers! First one started off fast, but soon settled into a comfortable speed. More of a fantasy story than science fiction in my opinion, but still suspenseful. The author built a fascinating world.

This was a good story well told. The readings were excellent. The shift from female to male voice was disconcerting, at first, but the transition went well.

will provide many evenings of entertainment

I quite enjoyed this story. Long enough for many evenings of entertainment. Good plot progression and consistent sci-fi reality. The reader was good.
