Saki (December 18, 1870 – November 14, 1916) was the pen name of British author Hector Hugh Munro. Saki's world contrasts the effete conventions and hypocrisies of Edwardian England with the ruthless but straightforward life-and-death struggles of nature. Nature generally wins in the end. Beasts and Super-Beasts by Saki

(5 Sterne)

This is quite a top-shelf collection of readings. With only negligible exceptions, the readers succeed in affecting just that sort of dry, slightly-jaded, aristocratic voice that is so necessary for an effective rendering of Saki's characters and narrative style. The audio quality is also quite good, for the most part. In these stories, Saki wields his wit like a scalpel. This collection contains some of the keenest humour in the English language.

An excellent recording

(5 Sterne)

I'm a hughe fan of P G Wodehouse, and Saki reminds me of him, except that Wodehouse is more forgiving, and goes for happy endings. Saki likes breaking his characters more. An excellent recording: I looked up one of the recorders and was saddened to see he had not done any solos. 8(

fantastic narration

(5 Sterne)

Well recorded and narrated by some of the voice artists. endearing to hear the colour and personality given to the characters of Saki's world, sprinkled with the occasional slip of tongue and the quick recoveries from the incredibly talented narrators :)

good book

(5 Sterne)

It is a very good family read aloud. And a good book for ages 8 and up. But believe me, there are not a lot of creature stories in it. Dawson,10 years old

Superb

(5 Sterne)

I have to agree. This is one of the finest recordings I've heard yet. All the readers are excellent, but the first one is just perfect.

Brilliant

(5 Sterne)

Saki is scathing and sarcastic and Justin Brett reads his works brilliantly. He brings the characters alive

Why talk about beasts when u can talk about the exploitation of BIPOCs by white heteronotmative patriarchy
