a favorite classic

(5 Sterne)

This is the third or fourth time listening/reading this book. It is a cleverly and beautifully told story full of fantastic plots, daring characters, and true love, courage, and sacrifice. I would recommend it to any good reader and thinker. And the reader -- Karen Savage is the best reader I have ever heard. Her accents and intonations are beautiful and accurate. I can be never read Sir Percy without hearing her drawly, affected tones... Overall, a masterpiece!

great story

I just love this story. It kept my attention from the very beginning through to the very end. The vivid details make it so easy to feel as though you're right there with the characters. Of course the wonderful reader helped with that too. Its suspenseful, somewhat sad, and absolutely hilarious at times. The writer did a wonderful job at slowly piecing the story together which allowed you to follow along and assemble the puzzle as it unfolded. I also liked that she doesn't come right out and say who the Scarlet Pimpernel is. She only implies and lets you figure it out along with Marguerite.

Amazing!

One of my all time favourite stories, absolutely brilliant!! Karen Savage does the most wonderful job reading, she portrayed all of the emotions and characters to perfection. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves adventure, romance and interesting storylines. You will fall in love with all the characters and immediately want to read all of the other Scarlet Pimpernel books out there.

Better than I expected

I began listening to this book and after the first chapter, I thought it wasn't going to appeal to me. However, I came back to it a couple of months later and listened to the entire book. It was entertaining throughout and excellently read. I recommend it to anyone who loves a happy ending.

spoiled by the summary

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! My first Baroness Orczy novel, and I loved every little chapter. My only critique is the summary written by our awesome narrator Karen: Sir Percy Blakeney and his alter ego. So I knew before I started this book who the Scarlet Pimpernel was, so I missed the mystery of it. Still and all, 5 stars for a fantastic writer, novel, and narrator!!!

Very Fun!

The Scarlet Pimpernel is a tolerably well-written adventure story. If frequently repeated phrases don’t bother you (peremptory, or low, musical voice, or childlike face, etc) then you’ll probably enjoy this book. Once again, Karen Savage is a delight to listen to. I knew she was talented in English accents, so when she proved to be comfortable in French I was quite pleasantly surprised. Definitely recommend!

Excellent reading as ever from the remarkable Karen Savage. The book itself I thoroughly enjoyed despite several glaring plot inconsistecies. I could tell that it was originally a stage play from the series of set locations, that read ad stage sets. So, not perfect, not one of the world's greatest novels, but a fine story well told and well read.

Absolutely brilliant reading. Karen Savage pronunciation of all the French words makes this reading. I was riveted like no other librovox title. I have literally listened to this book like 5 times. Ms. Savage you have my eternal gratitude. I have listened to a thousand titles, this was the finest of them all.
