1946 WCCO Stay At Home Campaign

(4 stars; 1 reviews)

Polio outbreaks in the United States in the summer of 1946 were at an all-time high. In Minneapolis, Minnesota there was a voluntary quarantine - and with no newspaper delivery boys there was no Sunday Funnies. Mayor (and future Vice President) Hubert H. Humphrey came to the rescue and read the Sunday comics over WCCO (and did a pretty good job).
