An old-time shipmate of Slate Shannon brings trouble when he comes to Havana and asks Shannon to keep a packet of jewels for him, called the Tears of Siva.  Shannon and the shipmate are robbed of the jewels and the shipmate killed, but the jewels turn out to be fake.
