This recording is a 1941 or 1942 radio special by movie producer Tay Garnett. The program had the first act of a proposed movie, Three Sheets to the Wind . He asked listeners to send their opinions and ideas about the program to him, and they would use their input in the planning of the movie. The program included Brian Donlevy. The film was never made. Collectors have long sought copies of the brief radio series , Three Sheets to the Wind , which starred John Wayne. No copies of that program or series exist. Mr. Hehn (1931-2020) was a pioneering collector of radio recordings when the hobby emerged in the 1960s. Digitizing his collection of reel tapes and discs is the effort of a wide range of North American volunteers, and includes assistance of some international collectors. The groups supporting this effort with their funds, time, technology and skills are the Old Time Radio Researchers and a small group of transcription disc preservationists who refer to themselves as the "The Knights of the Turning Table."
