Kilmeny of the Orchard
Lucy Maud Montgomery
Read by LibriVox Volunteers

Eric Marshall is all that a well brought-up young man should be. Handsome, steadfast, and full of ambition, he is expected to expand the Marshall & Company empire -- and to marry a woman suitable to replace his mother in Nova Scotia's finest circles. When a sick friend asks for a favour, becoming a substitute schoolmaster in the Prince Edward Island countryside seems the perfect post-graduation lark. But when Eric wanders into an old orchard at twilight, his life will be changed forever... (Summary by Sarah Jennings) (3 hr 46 min)

Reviews
A charming L.M. Montgomery love story

moonnoona
A short little love story that I mostly enjoyed - I must admit that the men's fawning over Kilmeny's looks was a bit irritating. Compared to Anne Shirley, Kilmeny is a shallow and one-on-one character. Still, I enjoyed the book and the readers.
Sweet and simple

Lovely story. :) If you like exciting/unpredictable plots this might not be for you, but if you already enjoy Montgomery's books you're bound to love it. It's a sweet, simple story with a beautiful setting and a somewhat mysterious, fairytale-like air.
Pleasant story

This is a perfect, sweet, old-fashioned tale, great as a little piece of escape from modern life, and told in Montgomery's distinctive style. The narrators are easy to understand and the story is the perfect length for an afternoon's relaxation or a short trip.
Enjoyable

Although there are several readers, they all have a similar feel and tone to their voice, so this is not disruptive to the story. This is a delightful quick tale on par with one of Anne Shirley’s imaginative stories of her youth.
Sweet & Enchanting

A darling story of pure love and simple country enchantment! I love Kilmeny and the way she is portrayed... Lucy Maud Montgomery is one of my favorite authors, hands down!! Readers were ok... really love Karen Savageâs voice!!
Short and sweet romance

Charaxfers and setting are well drawn and story sweet. Multiple readers, all fine, though speed and volume shift between chapters at times. Some beliefs of ethnic characteristics common at the time hit a modern ear oddly.
Lovely story.

Lovely story. Unfortunately, two too many readers.Their voice quality and style seriously broke the continuity of such a wonderful little love story. Made it very hard to listen to. Perhaps a remake us in order?

Laura
Beautiful story by LM Montgomery! She has the gift for human expression in all its forms. Her descriptions of nature settings make you feel like you are there in the orchard with Kilmeny. Wonderful story!
