Great Escape

(5 stars)

What a terrific mystery novel! It was so good I couldn't sleep until I finished it...in one day!

A mostly good story

(4 stars)

This story was mostly good with a few nitpicky complaints. I think there was too much backstory at the beginning of the tale, and the detective, while endearing, was at times a bit of an idiot. Juliette is living in a tough spot. She is adopted, her adopted father has remarried and has 3 more girls, and her step mother is not a nice person. It would be really nice if she could find her family, her REAL family. Enter Gimlet who is searching for her on behalf of her real family. They are reunited only to have her newly discovered father murdered. However, the murderer must beware because Gimlet will not let them get away with killing his client. The readers were fine, no complaints, the story was just a bit tedious at times.

A pretty good tale.

I had never encountered a book by this author before. The tale was well woven and very much a mystery novel, with a little dose of romance thrown in too. I very much liked the astute private detective and hope to find other books on Librivox featuring him. A bit disconcerting to have various readers, but they all did a good job.

Overall I enjoyed this story. The set up was slow and I found myself wondering when it would get interesting. But it did and i'm glad I waited. I enjoyed most of the readers, but I absolutely could not stand one of them. (A heavy breather who pronounced Librivox "Lee ba box".) I do recommend this story.

Story was easy to listen to, had a good flow to it. Some chapters a little long winded but it kept me guessing. The readers were awesome...

Well Read

Story itself not quite my cup of tea, but very well read and likely to be at least moderately enjoyed by most mystery fans.

Good Mystery

Good story full of twists and turns. The readers throughout were excellent. The ending was a little convoluted but overall an enjoyable experience.
