The Midnight Passenger
Richard Henry Savage
Read by MaryAnn
Randall Clayton was surrounded by enemies. His father’s business partner had looked after him in the years since his father’s death. But Hugh Worthington’s motives were not altruistic – he had a secret to hide and a scheme to bring to fruition that would make him millions at Clayton’s expense. Clayton’s roommate, Arthur Ferris, had his own schemes, including stealing the affections of Worthington’s daughter away from Clayton. Clayton worked for a pittance in New York, where he was watched day and night by Worthington’s spies, and by the ruthless Fritz Braun, who plotted to rob Clayton of the large deposit that he daily carried for his employer. It seemed that Jack Witherspoon was his only friend, the only one he could trust. But Jack was sailing for Europe and neither man fully comprehended the danger that was closing in on Randall. Wow!

One of the best, most edge-of-your-seat stories I've heard. Actually shocking at times! Excellent reading, too.

Your spoiler alert may say what it is but it is impossible not to read it , couldn't you have just said you didn't like what happened to him or something, rather than spoil it for anyone reading your review ?
Quintessential Murder Mystery
Angels Walk
This is intensely cerebral & at points, rather convoluted, yet if one can keep the many players separated, we find a masterful piece of literature, read by a terrific LibriVox Volunteer. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

Fine read by Mary Ann,

intricate sensational early noir, international intrique, family disputes, international femme fatale, corruption of the corporate/political "complex"(worse than ever now in the 21st century) murder mystery, etc !!!!SPOILER ALERT!!! but did not like that protagonist/hero dies midway through novel. also did not care for the bigotry towards central/eastern Europeans MaryAnn Spiegel has done prolific reading for librivox and she is to be commended, and with such a fine voice. However personally I don't really care for what it seems her much readings of christian works. But there is more than enough of her secular reading. I loved her read of Kity Alone, both secualar and moral. Well "to each his own". Thanks MaryAnn, all librivox volunteers, and Internet Archive for all these free content that many like me could never afford to listen, read and watch on a daily basis.
